OA Games 2022 opens up competition to the rest of the world

The Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 has embraced countries from outside its region to compete in the Games.

The Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 has invited and welcomed countries from outside its region to be part of the Games to ensure they are included and have competitive opportunities this year.

With recent events such as COVID-19 which have led to the cancellation of many major sporting events, some athletes from around the world lost the opportunity to compete and have been faced with the uncertainty of how this would affect their upcoming sporting goals.

Days and months of physical and mental training, preparation, scheduling, goal setting and the anticipation of joining other elite athletes were lost with these cancellations.

In particular, after the announcement that the Regional Virtus Americas Games 2022 in September was cancelled, the local organising committee for the OA Games 2022 saw an opportunity to embrace these nations in its Brisbane event, in line with its vision for a world where everyone is included through sport.

For some Virtus athletes, this will be their last international competition before heading to Vichy, France for the Global Games 2023.

This year, athletes from Oceania and Asia will compete to see which country will come out on top as the best in the region. Invited athletes from the rest of the world will also have the chance to be included and channel their focus and preparation to showcase their talent and ability on an international stage in 2022.
