the Closing ceremony

To close out an incredible week, on the final day of sporting competition on Friday 11 November, the athletes teams, workforce and guests gathered for an exclusive Closing Ceremony at Anna Meares Velodrome, Sleeman Sports Complex.

The athletes paraded, one more time, into the venue proudly bearing their national flag for the final official declaration of the close of the Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022.

Speeches from Mr Don Brown, Member for Capalaba and representing the Premier of Queensland, Councillor Angela Owen, Calamvale Ward and representing the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, and Virtus Asia President Patrick Chan and Virtus Oceania President Robyn Smith OAM were made to recognise and celebrate the triumphs of the week.

Youth athletes were presented with their medals and celebrated for their achievements, and athletes partied into the night with performances from Australian singer Zeek Power and hip-hop dancers and singers NXT.  A special thank you to Borderline Australia’s Cody Schaeffer who MC’d the evening.
