Imagine a world where everyone is included through sport

This is a milestone event in Virtus history as the first Virtus Regional Games for the Oceania Asia region.

The Virtus Australia member organisation, Sport Inclusion Australia (SIA), managed the delivery of the Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 (OA Games 2022).

SIA is built on the foundation that no one should be left behind and works to assist the inclusion of people with an intellectual disability into the mainstream community by using sport as the medium.

It is proud to have had the support of the Australian Federal Government, Queensland State Government and Brisbane City Council to host a world-class event to drive better inclusion for athletes with intellectual impairment in the region and in sport.

Sport is in Australia’s cultural DNA as demonstrated by the many well-known major international sports events that have been hosted here, including the Sydney 2000 Olympics and Paralympics, Invictus 2018, several Commonwealth Games and the INAS Global Games 2019.

The OA Games 2022 was one of Brisbane’s first major international multi-sport events on its exciting green and gold runway towards the Brisbane 2032 Olympic & Paralympic Games.

Inclusion and diversity was high on Australia’s radar, with the city of Brisbane hosting the OA Games 2022, 5-11 November and welcoming hundreds of elite athletes from around the world.

Underpinned by the principles of accessibility, respect, and diversity inclusion, OA Games 2022 celebrated people, sport, ability and culture.

The OA Games 2022 vision is a world included through sport.
