500 Days to go until Oceania Asia Games 2022

June 23, 2021. Today marks 500 Days to Go until the inaugural Virtus Oceania Asia Games in November 2022, which will bring hundreds of athletes together for elite competition and cultural exchange.

The Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 (#OAGames2022) will be held in Brisbane, Australia, in a multi-sport event format from 5 to 12 November 2022.

Ms Robyn Smith, CEO of Sport Inclusion Australia (SIA), said there is growing momentum in Australia around inclusive sports, and SIA is taking lead for athletes with intellectual impairment.

“The Virtus Oceania Asia Games 2022 will hold a vision of Sport for Humanity and a celebration of sport and cultural diversity,” Ms Smith said.

“There is much excitement about seeing athletes come back again, to represent their countries and compete for medals and achieve personal best performances.”

“As we embark into this new decade, there is also a vision to set up these Games as a potential test stage for a Paralympic Games in our future.”

The current sports program includes Athletics, Basketball, Cycling, Rowing, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Tennis. Additional Sports are being sought in consultation with Virtus Nation Members and interested Pacific Nations, prior to finalising the Official Sports Program.

Oceania Asia Games 2022 invites governments, sporting organisations, and corporate partners who believe in this vision to be part of this movement. A movement of Sport for Humanity.
